SC Power Team joins the North Strand Coastal Wind Team

For immediate release

The North Strand Coastal Wind Team is pleased to announce that the South Carolina Power Team has joined as a Wind Team member.

Monroe Baldwin and Greg Duckworth of the Wind Team met in Columbia with Fred Gassaway and Rusty Reed of the Power Team to discuss their common goals in implementing and advancing renewable energy, education, and job expansion in the state and recognized the benefits of joining forces.

Based in Columbia, the South Carolina Power Team promotes economic development statewide through the creation of capital investment and jobs. The members of the team include: Santee Cooper (electric generation), Central Electric Power (transmission), and South Carolina’s 20 Electric Cooperatives (distribution). As a full-service economic development organization, the Power Team employs marketing, site identification, industry support, and community development to encourage job creation in South Carolina.

The vision of the North Strand Coastal Wind Team is to establish a community-based wind energy program and sustainable energy plan in the North Strand region in collaboration with strategic team members. North Myrtle Beach has proven itself a demonstration city in building the local economy and developing energy independence. Assembling an economic and research platform for development in alternative energy, the North Strand Coastal Wind Team seeks to attract innovators and entrepreneurs in the field to participate in this new and growing economic cluster in South Carolina.

The collaboration looks forward to working together in building the relationships and infrastructure needed to meet South Carolina’s electricity needs and increase jobs in the State.
